joa9 Egypt Book of Mystery — Reel Adventure Into Ancient Secrets
This slot by PG Soft brings to life the mysteries of ancient Egypt — pharaoh's tombs, hieroglyphs, and hidden burial chambers. Play in demo or real money mode at joa9 and explore every feature of the game.
A Mysterious Slot Adventure in Ancient Egypt
Egypt Book of Mystery is a five-reel, three-row video slot made by PG Soft. It has 243 ways to win, so instead of fixed paylines, any matching adjacent symbols from left to right pay a prize.
The theme is built around ancient Egypt — a pharaoh's tomb, an image of the goddess Isis, a scarab beetle puzzle, and mysterious hieroglyph scrolls fill the screen. PG Soft has maintained their characteristic smooth animations and mobile-friendly interface in this game as well. For players browsing the slots section at joa9, the visual style of this game will stand out.
The game's top prize is significantly larger than the bet, and it can be increased further in the bonus round. The symbols include four high-value Egyptian deity images and the relatively lower-value royal A, K, Q, J symbols.
The Game's Reels, Symbols and Bonuses at a Glance
Scroll Wild Symbol
The mysterious papyrus scroll acts as a Wild — it takes the place of any symbol except the Scatter to complete winning lines.
Golden Book Scatter
Three or more Golden Book Scatter symbols landing anywhere on the reels trigger the free spins bonus round.
Free Spins Round
In the bonus round, a special expanding symbol is selected which can spread across the entire reel and bring large prizes.
243 Ways to Win
Prizes are won through 243 ways, not paylines — three or more of the same symbol on consecutive reels from left to right pays a prize.
Four Deity Symbols
Ra, Anubis, Horus, and Isis — matching all four of these high-value symbols together pays the largest base-game prize.
Fully Mobile Friendly
PG Soft's engine is built with a mobile-first design, so neither the graphics nor the gameplay are reduced in quality on a phone or tablet.
From Choosing Your Bet to the Bonus Round
First, set your preferred bet amount from the bet controls at the bottom of the screen. The game supports various bet levels, so it is easy to play on a small budget. Once you press Spin or start auto-spin, the five reels begin to turn.
A win occurs when the same symbols land adjacently on consecutive reels from left to right — at least three. The Wild symbol can sit in any position and substitute for other symbols, increasing the chance of a win.
Landing three or more Golden Book Scatters starts the free spins round. In this round, a special symbol is randomly selected as the "expanding" symbol — when it lands on a reel, it expands to fill that entire reel. If Scatters land again during the bonus round, additional free spins are added. This particular mechanic sets the game apart from ordinary slots.

Understanding Budget, Sessions and Volatility
Egypt Book of Mystery is a medium-to-high volatility game. Volatility refers to how often prizes come and how large they are. In a high-volatility game, many spins may pass with no prize, but when one does come it tends to be relatively large.
This game suits players who can be patient and are prepared to keep enough balance to reach the bonus round. Playing with smaller bets over a longer session is sensible, because the game's best prizes are found in the bonus round.
For those who want to pass time without chasing a large win in a single session, a lower-volatility slot may be more enjoyable. However, players who like the Egyptian theme and the special free spins mechanic will find a lot to like in this game.
Suitable Players
- Patient players who can wait for the bonus round
- Those who enjoy Egyptian themes and mythology
- Those who prefer to play with a set session budget
- Players who expect a prize on every spin would be better suited to a lower-volatility game
Things Worth Knowing Before You Play
Try the Demo Mode First
A demo version of the game is available at joa9 where you can get familiar with the reel mechanics and bonus round without using real money. It is worth doing this before placing real bets.
Set Aside a Budget for the Session
Decide in advance how much you are willing to spend in a session. Do not put your entire balance into one session — play in smaller portions so you can enjoy more time playing.
Stick to a Stop Limit
Set a limit in your mind beforehand — if you lose a certain amount, end the session. You should read the responsible gaming page to follow responsible play guidelines.
Bet Size and Session Length
In a medium-volatility game, the bonus round can take time to arrive. Rather than placing large bets on each spin, play more spins with smaller bets — this improves the chance of triggering the bonus.
Misconceptions About Slots and the Reality
Many players hold beliefs about slots that are not accurate. Being clear on these points makes for a better playing experience.
"If a slot hasn't paid out for a long time, it's about to pay now"
Every spin is completely independent — the result of a previous spin has no effect on the next one. The game uses an RNG (Random Number Generator), so placing larger bets because "it's due" is not correct.
Every spin is separate and independent
The RNG determines a new result on every spin. What happened before does not change the probability of the next spin — that is how the game's code is designed.
"If you increase your bet after a loss, you can win your money back"
Raising your bet to recover losses is known as "chasing losses" — it does not work in slots. It instead creates the risk of losing more, more quickly.
The right way to stop a losing run is to take a break
When you reach your set limit, take a break. Continuing to play driven by emotion leads to larger losses in most cases. You can find more information on responsible play on the FAQ page.
